35-Year-Old Man Nabbed For ‘Killing’ Wife In Nasarawa

Mr Ovye Yakubu, 35, was detained by the Nigeria Police Force, Nasarawa State Command, for allegedly killing his wife, Esther Aya, in the Sabonpegi-Shabu community of Lafia.

The suspect was detained on Friday, according to the Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Ramhan Nansel, who confirmed the occurrence in Lafia, the Nasarawa state capital.

The State Criminal Investigation Department is conducting an investigation to determine the cause of the incident, according to the police.

He, however, maintained that the corpse of the woman had been deposited at the morgue for a post mortem examination.

Our correspondent learnt that the accused beat his wife to death after an argument.

According to a family source who spoke on the condition of anonymity to our correspondent, the suspect began abusing his wife when she invited a carpenter to work in the house.

“The deceased engaged the service of a carpenter to fix a net in their windows to prevent mosquitoes,” according to a family source. “However, the husband stopped the carpenter, which the wife resisted, and the husband began beating her in the process.”
