The G-MATS was co-founded by Dr. Umar Tanko Yakasai and Comrade Ayodele Adewale, Deputy National Coordinator of the G-MATS, the APC State Organising Secretary for the Lagos State Chapter, the Secretary of the APC Presidential Campaign Council (PCC) Special Duties 2 Directorate, former Executive Chairman Amuwo Odofin Local Government, former Public Relations Officer of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), former Mobilization and Liaison Officer to the late Chief Anthony Enahoro (CFR) led Pro-National Conference Organization (PRONACO), former Citizens Forum led by Prof. Wole Soyinka and the former secretary, June 12 coalition and stakeholders under the late Dr. Beko Ransom-Kuti.

G-MATS has its structure in the 36 states of Nigeria, Abuja, and all 774 local governments and 37 local council development areas in Lagos State.

It also has six coordinators in each of the six geopolitical zones of Nigeria.

The conferment as Grand Patron took place in Abuja in the presence of Alhaji Salihu Abubakar Tanko Yakasai, the 97-year-old human rights activist, founding member of the Arewa Consultative Forum, and former legislative assistant to President Shehu Shagari, former President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria during the 2nd Republic.

It was also witnessed by Alhaji Abdullahi Tanko Yakasai, President of the Northern Young Professionals.

Alhaji Tanko Yakasai reaffirmed his promise to Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu to use his structures in the 19 Northern States of Nigeria to deliver 3 million votes to Asiwaju.

Ahaji Salihu Yakasai had made this promise earlier on the 4th of January 2023, when the Iyaloja General of Nigeria, Mrs Folashade Tinubu-Ojo, daughter of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and Comrade Ayodele Adewale visited his home in Kano State to say thank you for his strong support for Asiwaju’s presidential ambition.

Asiwaju Tinubu accepted the honour and promised to manifest his electoral promises to Nigerians when elected into office as President of Nigeria.

He promised not to let the country down, especially the youths, and touched on other key issues that his administration would resolve, which include insecurity, unemployment, the provision of 24 hours of sustainable electricity that will boost productivity and drive industrialization, the provision of good health infrastructure and systems, obedience to the rule of law, improved agriculture backed with modern technological equipment, the creation of science and technological hubs across the country, the development of the natural potentials in each state, building infrastructure across the nation, support for small businesses, and opening the nation’s economy to foreign direct investments.

He also promised to involve traditional institutions more in government structures at all levels.

He said his administration will focus more on developing education and creating support systems for students. He talked about developing green and renewable energy and technologies, as well as improving the tourism industry in Nigeria.

He said his administration will work with the creative industry to boost its potential. He said he’ll support full autonomy for local government and that there will be inclusion of women, people with disabilities, youths, and many more in his government.

Asiwaju received the honour as Grand Patron of G-MATS with pride and was filled with joy at seeing Alhaji Salihu Yakasai once again.
