Bringing Nigeria’s History Online: IHS Nigeria and Partners Launch Digital Museum

IHS Nigeria, a subsidiary of IHS Holding Limited (NYSE: IHS), one of the world’s largest independent owners and operators of shared communications infrastructure, has entered into a partnership with the National Commission for Museums and Monuments (NCMM) and the Federal Ministry of Art, Culture, and the Creative Economy (FMACCE).

This collaboration aims to digitize Nigeria’s cultural heritage, making historical artifacts, artworks, and cultural monuments accessible online through a digital museum.

 

This initiative, part of the Honorable Minister’s Digital Culture Initiative, aims to modernize the preservation and presentation of Nigeria’s cultural heritage, allowing a wider audience to explore and appreciate these assets. This project aligns with IHS Nigeria’s commitment to sustainability, digital education, and community development.

Mohamad Darwish, CEO of IHS Nigeria, expressed excitement about this partnership, highlighting its significance for cultural preservation and education. Hannatu Musawa, Nigeria’s Minister of Art, Culture, and the Creative Economy, emphasized the initiative’s alignment with the President’s Renewed Hope Agenda and the Ministry’s strategic goals.

 

Olugbile Holloway, Director General of NCMM, underscored the importance of this project in making cultural heritage accessible to younger generations and the global community, noting its value for researchers, students, and the public.
