The inauguration ceremony of the new governor of Anambra State, Prof. Charles Chukwuma Soludo, on Thursday was momentarily marred by a mild drama that ensued when the very immediate past first lady of the state, Mrs Ebelechukwu Obiano, and the former Nigerian Ambassador to Spain, Mrs Bianca Ojukwu, fought each other to the consternation of dignitaries.

Although there had not been any love lost between the two powerful women in Anambra State in the last four years, the frosty relationship worsened during the build-up to the November 2021 governorship election in the state, with Banca Ojukwu allegedly wishing her late husband’s party, All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), the platform on which Soludo contested for the seat, a defeat at the poll.

People’s Voice gathered that what touched off the brawl between the duo at the inauguration grounds was the late arrival of Obiano’s wife to the venue, who, on sighting Bianca seated in one of the places designated for the VIPs, soon walked up to her.

Ebelechukwu Obiano was alleged to have expressed shock that Bianca, an ex-beauty queen and daughter of former governor C.C. Onoh, could attend the inauguration without qualms, having wished Obiano’s candidate and APGA failure at the poll.

Sources said that the ex-first lady leaned towards the direction of Bianca, looked the former Ambassador in the face and allegedly blurted out in Igbo, “Echem isi n’anyi ga e loosu the election…” (I thought you said and boasted that we would lose the election?) to which an infuriated Bianca allegedly responded by slapping her.

This, it was learnt further, set off a feud of fisticuffs between the two, who turned the inauguration into an atmosphere of commotion for some minutes, and normalcy did not return, according to sources, until some of the dignitaries, including former governor Peter Obi, waded in to arrest what few of the guests described as a “show of shame.”
