Kenyan Cops Apprehend A Bull For Trampling A woman To Death

Kenyan Police at Khayega Police Post in Kakamega, Kenya have arrested a bull for trampling a woman to death. Also in police custody is the bull owner, who has also been arrested while police investigate the incident.

The bull, nicknamed “Tusker”, reportedly broke loose and attacked three women from the village of Lutoto, trampled one to death as the owner, Josphat Bilimo, was driving him home from a match last Friday.

According to Within Nigeria, the 60-year-old woman, identified as Felistus Luda, is said to have been attacked by the cops as she tried to flee the scene.

Mr. Bonventure Munanga, the director of the Kakamega County Bullfighting Association, who confirmed the incident Tuesday, July 5, said the bull caught up with the woman as she tried to scoot to safety.

“The woman could not run fast enough as she was injured in an accident and was unfortunately killed by the bull,” Mr. Munanga said.

Kakamega East Subdistrict Police Commander Robert Makau told Nation.Africa that police were called to rescue the bull from villagers who wanted to beat him to death and share his meat.

“The DCIO is conducting the investigation.” “The bull’s owner will appear in court on Thursday to face charges of negligence in handling the animal,” Mr. Makau said.

Mr. Munanga said the bull’s owner tried to negotiate with the woman’s family so they could settle the matter out of court.

“He agreed to pay for the funeral expenses, but the villagers planned to attack and kill the bull, as tradition dictates.” “The bull is to be killed and the meat distributed for consumption,” Mr. Munanga said.

The incident has brought to light the issue of security surrounding the popular bullring, which draws large crowds in the western region.

Mr. Munanga said he called a meeting with bull owners to discuss safety at bullfights in Kakamega County.
