The suspected hoodlums who attacked the Press crew of the Governor of Lagos State, Gov. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu has been apprehended. The arrest were made by officers of the Nigeria Police Zone 2 Command under the leadership of AIG Adeleke Adeyinka Bode (comprising Lagos and Ogun states).

It will be recalled that on the return of the Presidential Candidate of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu to Lagos state last month, he paid a special visit to the Oba of Lagos. He was accompanied by Gov. Sanwo-Olu.

There, during the visit at the Lagos Island area of Lagos, the vehicle conveying the pressmen was badly damaged and some journalists sustained varying degrees of injury.

It was sponsored by someone we will not mention his name because if we do, he will be on the run. I am not a politician so I can’t say if there is political undertone.’

‘The suspects arrested have confirmed to the crime and they all belong to different cult groups like Aye, Eiye, Oju Apako etc. Investigation is at matured stage. They don’t have correlation to work together but we made arrests differently and that’s how we got confession that they are part of different cults. You will get more information as we will still call for another press briefing.’

One of the suspects who simply identified himself as Muideen revealed: ‘They arrested us on the road. I don’t know anything about it. I live in Adeniji Adele, Lagos Island. I am a printer in Idumota.’

Another one, Ibrahim Lateef told Trek Africa Newspaper: ‘I had a shift and I work with a drinks shop. The vigilante behind us picked us but I am not involved in cult’.
