Organisation Canvasses Safe Environment For Farms, Livestock Operations

An Islamic organisation Halal Standards Development Trust (HASDAT) has concluded plans to hold a symposium on safe environment for farms and livestock operations.
The organisation, an agency of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA) with the responsibilities of food certification for faithful, in a message, signed by its Chairman Board of Trustee Mr Mikail Banji-Sarumoh on Tuesday in Lagos said that, safe operational environment was essential to avoid food poison.
The body noted with dismay the poor handling of foods by operators, said that the symposium would educate people on better ways of packaging and handling livestock products for a healthy public.
The News Agency of Nigeria(NAN) reports that, the symposium with theme “Sustainable Safe and wholesome Red Meat Value chain” holds on Thursday at the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) house Ikeja, Lagos.
It said, HASDAT, a non profit organisation, aimed at ensuring a safe environment for Farms and Livestock operations to advance healthy living.
According to Banji-Sarumoh, the event, will feature the Lagos Statel Commissioner for Agriculture Ms Abisola Olusanya, an accomplished professional with extensive industry and international exposure in Food and Agro- supply, as the Lead paper presenter.

“The organisation has chosen to spotlight the Red Meat Value Chain with a focus on Lagos state, with a view to suggesting ways of improving the provision of safe and wholesome meat for Lagosians and for export”, he said.
It listed other dignitaries as resource persons to the event to include the Chairman, Lagos Chapter of the Nigerian Veterinary Medical Association (NVMA) Dr Olufemi Aroso, Sheik Nuru Lemu, an Islamic Scholar and member HASDAT BOT, Executive Director, Islamic Education Trust Minna, Dr Ugo Ugochi, Managing Director, LIVESTOCK24/7, Dr. Akeem Shina Oyewale, a seasoned banker in ethical funding, CEO of Marble Capital Ltd, and HASDAT Halal Lead Auditor and member of its BOT, Alhaji Sulaiman Ola-Olokodana.
