Ogun State College of Health Technology is a training college for health care in Ilese-Ijebu, Ogun State, Nigeria. It was the first State College established in Ogun State.
Dr. Oladunjoye who was the Provost of the College was appointed as the Deputy Provost of the College in the year 2007 to 2011. He was serving in his capacity as Dean, School of Environmental Sciences, when the Executive Governor of Ogun State, Senator Ibikunle Amosun appointed him as the Provost of Ogun State College in December, 2014 following the expiration of his predecessor’s tenure.
Dr. Abiodun Oladunjoye’s appointment got terminated on the 14th of January, 2022, by the Executive Governor of Ogun State Prince Dapo Abiodun
Mr. Emmanuel Adesoji Olarinde of Eagles Watch has tagged the removal of the provost as “A Ray of Hope” for the college. He gave kudos to Mr. Governor for rescuing OSCOHTEC from Dr. Abiodun Oladunjoye’s stranglehold. Dr. Abiodun Oladunjoye who has refused to proceed on statutory retirement on attainment of sixty-five (65) years of age. According to him in an article written to Eagles watch
“Beyond the rhetoric, mouthing, and threats coupled with the total breakdown of sensible administration of equity, justice, and fair treatment of staff and students of the Ogun State College of Health Technology, Ilese, the enfant terrible of the institution, former Provost (Dr. Abiodun Oladunjoye), was shown the way out.”
For the years Dr. Abiodun Oluwole Oladunjoye held sway as Provost, visions died and hopes of having an institution able to live up to its name as a community of learning were buried.
During the sabre ranting of Dr. Abiodun Oladunjoye, he boasted and roared about his alleged hold on the reins of power within the government organs in the state. He acted like a man who truly had the remote control in his hands. He acted as God within the walls of OSCOTECH. Staff who held opposing views on any subject were summarily suspended without following established disciplinary procedures. A female cleaner of the institution was handed an infinite suspension for an alleged crime of “abusing the provost”.
The 14th of January, 2022, will remain indelible in the annals of the Ogun State College of Health Technology, Ilese, as Dr. Abiodun Oladunjoye’s appointment was terminated.
For many years, the gap between the governing and the governed in Nigeria has been a source of concern to every civilised citizen of this country. People elected into political power have at various times shown a lethargic distancing from the same people who hired them to make life meaningful. However, there is an exception to this ignomible act.
Prince Dapo Abiodun, the Executive Governor of Ogun State, has exhibited and implemented actions brought about by the yearnings of the people of the state. At a time when it looked so obvious that Dr. Abiodun Oladunjoye had, true to his words, paid his dues to those that matter, hence his authority to dictate the tune of his illegal stay in office beyond the statutory age limit, His Excellency, the Governor, rose to the occasion by cleaning out the Augean stable and reassuring the people that he runs an incorruptible government.
Eagle Watch will like to commend the Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, the secretary to the state government and the honourable commissioner of education, who particularly the former Provost has labelled as his own “lacky” in this administration, for taking the bull by the horns and decisively putting a stop to the illegality of Dr. Oladunjoye’s actions.
While we are watching not just Ogun State College of Health Technology, Ilese, we are indeed beaming and poking our noses to sniff out the actions of administrators of education in Ogun State.
The process for the appointment of a credible, qualified, and knowledgeable individual that understands the needs of this college should commence without delay.
While we are thanking Mr. Governor for doing the needful by removing Dr. Abiodun Oladunjoye after his refusal to proceed on statutory retirement on attainment of sixty-five (65) years of age, I would like to draw his attention to the illegality going on at the Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, Ojere.
Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, Ojere is owned by the Ogun State government. This institution of learning is headed by a rector who has been in an acting capacity for two (2) years running. Mr. Governor, you are the visitor to this institution and cannot afford to be blindfolded by this situation.
For the sake of equity, justice, and fair treatment of all that you promised on assumption of office as the Governor of Ogun State and for which you have been discharging your efforts, I encourage your excellency to look into the unending acting position of the Rector at the Moshood Abiola Polytechnic Ojere.
To the staff and students of OSCOHTECH , I say congratulations while wishing you a provost that will provoke real structural and academic development of your school.
