In a strong demonstration of its commitment to sustainability, Access Holdings PLC has joined financial sector leaders and policymakers at the United Nations Environment Programme Finance Initiative (UNEP FI) Regional Roundtable on Sustainable Finance for Africa and the Middle East.
The two-day event, held in Marrakech, brings together regulators, industry experts, and key stakeholders to discuss pressing sustainability issues, including climate adaptation, nature-positive finance, financial inclusion, and unlocking capital for the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Representing Access Holdings at the prestigious forum are Amaechi Okobi, Chief Brand and Communications Officer; Edmund Otaigbe, Group Head of Credit Administration, Governance & Project Monitoring; and Njideka Esomeju, Group Head of Products and Segments. They will share insights on accelerating the transition to sustainable financial systems and the role of banks in mitigating climate risks.
A major focus of the roundtable is how financial institutions can drive resilience in vulnerable sectors across Africa and the Middle East. Discussions will also explore the challenges of mobilizing private finance to support sustainability goals, innovative mechanisms for climate adaptation, and strategies for ensuring that underserved communities are included in the green transition.
High-profile speakers at the event include Mahmoud Mohieldin, UN Special Envoy on Financing the 2030 Agenda; Louise Gardiner, Senior Operations Officer at the International Finance Corporation (IFC); and Lily Burge, Policy Manager at Climate Bonds Initiative, alongside other influential figures in sustainable finance.
The UNEP FI Regional Roundtable serves as a key platform for fostering collaboration across the region, as stakeholders work toward building a resilient and sustainable future.
