Three Confirmed Died, Five Injured As Bus Crashes on Third Mainland Bridge – FRSC

 



The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Lagos Sector Command, has confirmed that three persons died in the Third Mainland Bridge crash on Sunday, and advised motorists to always be mindful of the status of their tyres as well as avoid excessive speed.

The Sector Commander, Corps Commander Olusegun Ogungbemide, said this in a statement signed by Route Commander Olabisi Sonusi, and made available to the National Association of Online Security News Publishers (NAOSNP), while giving details of the early morning crash that occurred at the Adekunle inter-change end of Third Mainland Bridge.

 

The crash, which involved a lone grey Toyota Hiace bus with registration number FST 241 YC, and coming from Adekunle inter-change inward Iyana-oworo, happened when one of the tyres burst, leading to a somersault.

 


There were a total of 20 occupants (9 Male, 11 female) in bus at the time of the accident. While three persons, all female, died, five others sustained injuries.

 

All first responders at the scene comprising FRSC, the Nigeria Police, LASTMA and LASEMA Rescue Unit rescued the injured victims, and the corpses who were taken to General Hospital Marina.

 

At the time of filing this report, the crashed vehicle has been removed while FRSC and LASTMA officials remained on ground to manage traffic.

 

Meanwhile, the Sector Commander has assured all motorists of adequate deployment of personnel and logistics for a crash free Eid-el-Fitri celebration. He further admonished motorists to always adhere to speed limits for all categories of road at all times stressing that “Speed Thrills but kills fast”.
