Benin City Set for Major Political Realignment as Dele Momodu Formally Declares for ADC

By Eric Elezuo

Benin City, the Edo State capital, is set to witness a significant political event as veteran journalist, publisher, and entrepreneur, Chief Dele Momodu, formally declares his membership of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

The declaration ceremony is scheduled to hold on Thursday, January 15, 2025, at the new ADC State Secretariat, Ogbelaka Road, Benin City, and is expected to attract top party leaders, political stakeholders, and supporters from across the country.

Speaking exclusively to The Boss, Momodu, who recently defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) following prolonged internal crises—described the emergence of the ADC coalition as a decisive and timely intervention in Nigeria’s political journey.

“Our coming together is divine and has paved the way for the restoration of hope for Nigerians, with a clear mission to rescue the nation from the shackles of oppressive governance over the past 10 years and counting,” Momodu said.

“ADC is a testament to our collective readiness to reclaim what rightfully belongs to Nigerians.”

A former presidential candidate, presidential aspirant, teacher, inspirational speaker, actor, media mogul, and entrepreneur, Dele Momodu is widely regarded as a multifaceted personality whose influence spans journalism, politics, and national development.

National leaders of the ADC are expected to grace the occasion, which will be broadcast live across major media platforms, including Arise News Television.

Momodu is not new to Nigeria’s political terrain. He contested the presidency in 2011 on the platform of the National Conscience Party (NCP) and later emerged as a presidential aspirant under the PDP in 2022.

His political journey dates back to the Second Republic, where he served as Private Secretary to Chief Akin Omoboriowo, the then Deputy Governor of Ondo State. He also played prominent roles during and after the June 12, 1993 political struggle.

Political observers believe his vast experience, intellectual depth, and national exposure will serve as a major boost to the ADC as it consolidates its structure ahead of future electoral contests.

The event is expected to kick off at 11:00 a.m.
