The Center for Industrial Engineering Research and Economic Development (CIERED) paid a courtesy visit to His Royal Majesty, the Alake of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo III. The courtesy visit was aimed at intimating His Royal Majesty about the activities of CIERED.During the visit, the team from the Center for Industrial Engineering Research and Economic Development (CIERED), led by the Director General, Engr. Dr. Oluwatobi Adeuyi, discussed the aims and objectives of CIERED and also intimate His Royal Majesty about some of the ongoing research initiatives and programs, which include the Digital Competency Training for Schools, aimed at building innovation culture from the cradle.

Oba Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo III shared his thoughts about CIERED and how it is well positioned to bridge the gap between researchers and industry. He also requested that CIERED should consider introducing digital literacy for adults and aged to enable them to participate in the current digital age. He further reiterated his desire for Nigeria to manufacture and make use of its own locally developed technologies, such as GSM phones, vehicles, and a host of other equipment, and encouraged CIERED to take a leading role in the actualization of this desire.

 

Members of the Egba ruling council present at the visit include Chief Sikiru Atobatele (Balogun Egba), Navy captain Rashid Raji (Asipa Egba), Oba Adewunmi Odutala (Olu of Ayetoro Budo), Baba Kushimor, and Prince Adeoye Gbadebo.

 

The DG of the Center for Industrial Engineering Research and Economic Development expressed his gratitude for the warm reception received from the Alake in council. And also appreciates his royal majesty for the expository engagements.

 

The visit was a productive and informative exchange between the Center for Industrial Engineering Research and Economic Development and His Majesty, and both parties expressed their desire to continue exploring potential areas of collaboration in the future.
