Delta Police To Intensify Traffic Enforcement, Offenders To Face Mobile Courts

By The People’s Voice Nigeria News

The Delta State Police Command has announced plans to intensify enforcement of traffic laws and related revenue offences across the state, with offenders to be prosecuted through designated Mobile Courts.

The move follows official confirmation by the Delta State Judiciary, through the Office of the Chief Registrar of the High Court of Justice, Delta State, on behalf of the Hon. Chief Judge, Hon. Justice T.O. Diai, that Mobile Courts are operational across various jurisdictions in the state.

In a press statement e-signed and released to the National Association of Online Security News Publishers (NAOSNP), the Command’s Spokesperson, SP Edafe Bright, said the enforcement drive takes immediate effect.

“The Delta State Police Command wishes to notify the public that it will intensify enforcement of traffic laws and other related revenue offences across the State, with immediate effect,” the statement read.

According to the Command, the Mobile Courts are empowered to summarily try traffic offenders and other violators in accordance with extant laws.

Consequently, surveillance, patrol, and enforcement operations will be strengthened across major roads and urban centres including Asaba, Warri, Effurun, Sapele, Ughelli, Agbor, and other parts of the state.

Offences to attract immediate arrest and prosecution before the Mobile Courts include reckless driving, driving against traffic, use of unauthorized number plates, driving without registration numbers, unauthorized use of sirens and revolving lights, obstruction, and other traffic violations.

The Command warned residents against violating traffic regulations, stressing that there will be zero tolerance for traffic indiscipline, obstruction of law enforcement officers, or attempts to evade lawful arrest.

It, however, clarified that the measures are not punitive but are aimed at restoring order, improving road safety, protecting lives and property, and ensuring compliance with the law.

The statement added that law-abiding residents have nothing to fear, while violators should be prepared to face the full weight of the law.

The Command, under the leadership of CP Aina Adesola, reaffirmed its commitment to public safety and the rule of law.
