Deplorable State of Infrastructure In Ondo South: An Indication of Neglect Of The District By The Ondo State Government – OSAWA

The Ondo South Advancement and Welfare Consultative Association has frowned on the Ondo State Government and Governor Akeredolu’s administration based on the poor state of infrastructure in the Ondo South Senatorial District, stating that the district has not received adequate attention from the state government in the area of infrastructural development.
According to a press statement e-signed by Cornel Owolewa, the Director of News and Media of the association said: “The delegate of the association (OSAWA) recently embarked on a tour around Ondo South Senatorial District in a bid to assess the state of infrastructure as well as governmental intervention therein vis-à-vis the presence of an infrastructural revolution that has been holding sway in the other two districts of the state: Ondo North and Ondo Central Senatorial districts.
“It was a total dismay as we realized that Ondo South has not received adequate attention from the state government in the area of infrastructural development. Evidently, most of the roads in the district are in bad shape because they are moribund. The larger part of the existing tarred roads was constructed during Governor Olusegun Agagu’s administration, while quantifiable parts were done during Governor Olusegun Mimiko’s administration and the present Governor, Arakunrin Rotimi Akeredolu’s administration, which we have in the Okitipupa-Igbokoda by-pass road and a few others.”
“Verifiable examples abound, and the decaying state of infrastructure in Ondo South includes the Ore-Okitipupa road, the State Specialist Hospital in Okitipupa, whose infrastructural ambience is gasping for breath at present, as well as the poor state of roads leading to other major cities and towns in the district.
As an association that has a long-term record of advocating for the interests of the Senatorial district of Ondo South, we found this a total injustice which remains unacceptable and would ordinarily get all well-meaning people in the district agitating for more responsive attention from the government to this plight.
Our present quest is a call for the rehabilitation of our major roads, most especially the Ore-Okitipupa road and other roads, and the refurbishment alongside equipping of our state specialist hospital situated in Okitipupa, Ondo State.
As we look for various means to draw the attention of the government to our grievances, which revolve around infrastructural decadence in the district, we consider this piece an expression of our dissatisfaction while exploring other subsequent means to get our district enjoy the dividends it so much deserves.
As an association, we act in tandem with our slogan, which goes thus: “We are determined to make a difference.”
