EFFECTIVE TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT SYSTEM IS THE KEY TO ECONOMIC GROWTH GLOBALLY – SOLA GIWA

The Lagos State Government has urged personnel of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) to take their job seriously, stressing that effective traffic management system is the key to economic growth globally, National Association of Online Security News Publishers, NAOSNP can report.
The Special Adviser to the Lagos State Governor on Transportation, Hon. Sola Giwa gave this charge during the on-going re-training workshop for another Batch of 250 LASTMA Senior Officers on Incident Management at the Police Training School, Ikeja, Lagos.
Hon. Giwa disclosed that the re-training 2-day workshop was in line with ‘Traffic Management and Transportation’ as one of the cardinal programmes of Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu as captured in the administration’s (Themes+) pillars of development in the State.
According to Hon. Sola Giwa “the re-training workshop is not about stopping traffic, because there will always be traffic, but it is to prevent major incidents from happening so that the economy of Lagos and that of Nigeria at large would grow”.
“The job of traffic management is very important because it contribute and improves the commerce of Lagos, as Lagos is the major driving force of the Country’s economy”
Hon. Giwa stressed that the Government map out this new re-training modules to aid effective execution of duties as well as enlighten officers of the Agency on new innovative ways to optimize their operations in order to meet up with international standards and best practices in traffic management.
Earlier in his welcome address, the Ag. General Manager of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) Mr. Olalekan Bakare-Oki thanked the Lagos StateGovernment for providing this great re-training opportunity to both Junior and Senior Officers of the Agency.
He confirmed the Lagos State Government last week in collaboration with the Association of Certified Forensic Intelligence and LASTMA Crime Analysts trained first batch of 250 Senior Officers of the Agency.
Mr. Bakare-Oki however appealed to LASTMA Senior Officers to take the re-training workshop seriously and be more professional when dealing with motoring public across the State.
A total of 500 Senior Officers of the Agency has been re-trained on Incident Management by the Lagos State Government.
