Erudite Islamic Cleric, Muyideen Ajani Bello Dies at 84

A prominent Islamic scholar from Ibadan, Oyo State, Sheikh Muyideen Ajani Bello, has passed away at the age of 84.
The news of the cleric’s death was confirmed through a post on Instagram by his son, Katibi Abdul Basit Olanrewaju, also known as Aponle Anobi. He shared a picture of Sheikh Bello along with a tearful emoji.
In a similar vein, another well-known Islamic cleric from Ibadan, Sheikh Taofeeq Akewugbagold, also confirmed the passing of Bello on his Facebook page.
“Today is one of my saddest day! My father and mentor has returned to his creator. Sultonul Wahizeen of Yorubaland, Sheikh Muhyideen Ajani Bello. May Allah be pleased with your soul. Aljannah fridaos for you. Our heart is full of grief and our eyes full of tears but we will say nothing but what will please our Creator the sole commander of life and death – Allah,” Akewugbagold said.
Sheikh Muhideen Ajani Bello was a highly esteemed Nigerian Islamic scholar and cleric, renowned for his eloquence, deep understanding of Islamic theology, and unwavering commitment to advancing religious education.
Born in the mid-20th century in Ibadan, Oyo State, he became a key figure in the Muslim community, both in Nigeria and internationally.
Sheikh Bello made lasting contributions to Islamic education, helping to establish and manage numerous schools and institutions. These schools provided quality education while instilling Islamic values.
He championed a well-rounded approach to education, blending religious teachings with modern sciences and the humanities.
As of this report, tributes from his admirers and followers continue to pour in for the late cleric.
