Event Diary Lifestyle Inspires Over 200 Girls to Embrace Technology at 2025 International Day of the Girl Child
…Young Child in School Initiative promotes digital literacy, confidence, and creativity among students
On October 10, 2025, the atmosphere at Top Teez Academy, Ojodu Abiodun, was charged with excitement and inspiration as Event Diary Lifestyle, through its signature project — the Young Child in School Initiative — hosted the 2025 International Day of the Girl Child celebration.
This year’s theme, “Digital Generation: Our Generation,” explored the topic “Girls in Tech: Shaping Tomorrow, Today.” The event created an empowering platform for young girls to learn, express creativity, and build confidence in a world increasingly shaped by technology.
A major highlight of the day was the keynote address by Oluwatoyin Angel, an author and child advocate based in the United States, who joined virtually via Google Meet. Her inspiring words encouraged the girls to embrace confidence and pursue careers in STEM, reminding them that “coding is not meant for men alone” and urging them to see themselves as innovators and leaders.
The celebration also featured an interactive mentorship session anchored by Amina Omoike, where representatives from each school spoke on “Building Confidence and Finding Their Voices.” The session was lively and inclusive, with active participation from students, parents, teachers, and mentors.
Adding glamour and real-world perspective, Ocare, a popular entertainer and influencer, shared her personal story — encouraging the girls to stay focused, plan their careers, and set clear goals for success.
Two distinguished speakers further enriched the event. Mrs. Ginia Bolaji Bello, an educationist and devoted mother, spoke on the role of education in empowering girls’ futures, underscoring that education remains the pathway to leadership and opportunity. Mrs. Esther Akanbi, an advocate for women in STEM, highlighted the importance of digital technology in the lives of young girls, urging early exposure to digital skills and promoting technology as a tool for empowerment.
Participating schools included Top Teez Academy, Alpha School, Real Prudent College / Real Prudent Height Academy, High Scope College, and Hortative Comprehensive College, Akute, among others. Over 200 students attended, engaging in learning, networking, and hands-on activities designed to nurture their confidence and creativity.
A key highlight was the Puzzle Competition, which tested students’ critical thinking and problem-solving skills. At the end of the contest, four winners emerged: Akintola Favour from Alpha School (first place); Onyebuchi Emmanuella and Oladotun Ayomide, both from Top Teez Academy (second and third places respectively); and Oke Toluwani from Real Prudent Academy (fourth place).
All winners received cash rewards, which will be used to open savings accounts for them at Access Bank, promoting financial inclusion and early savings culture among young learners.
Another exciting segment was the Art & Painting Competition, featuring ten talented participants. Obafemi Setemi from Alpha School claimed first position, followed by Omopekun Oluwaferanmi Victoria from Top Teez Academy in second. Tony Favour of Real Prudent Height Academy and Aniefiok Nene of Top Teez Academy took third and fourth places respectively.
Most of the top performers in the art segment were first-time painters who produced remarkable and expressive works — a testament to the initiative’s strong role in talent discovery and creative development.
In her welcome address, the convener, Princess Adeola Kafila Shittu, noted that this was the second edition of the Young Child in School Initiative. She emphasized that the project aims to create meaningful, long-term impact for girls — not just awareness — by helping them find their footing in fields traditionally dominated by men. She also appreciated Top Teez Academy for hosting the event for two consecutive years and applauded the participating schools for their students’ achievements.
Closing the event, Mrs. Ayodeji Orojo, Acting Proprietress of Top Teez Academy, encouraged the girls to use the digital world responsibly and apply the knowledge gained during the sessions. She urged them to continue building on their confidence and newly acquired skills to become positive change-makers in society.
The 2025 International Day of the Girl Child celebration by Event Diary Lifestyle was proudly supported by CWAY Group, Access Bank, Auto Glam, and individual sponsors — all contributing to an inspiring day that advanced digital inclusion, confidence, and talent discovery among young girls.
