Exhibit the utmost discipline, resourcefulness, and professionalism in performing your duties – AGC Felix Oke warns NSCDC personnel
The Assistant Commandant General, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC ACG Felix Oke has admonished senior officers of the Corps to always lecture officers and men under their watch to key into the Commandant General’s vision to revamp, rejig, restructure and reposition the Corps for better service delivery and shun all forms of corrupt practices, extortion, illegal duties, misuse of firearms, among others.
In a press statement e-signed and released to the National Association of Online Security News Publishers (NAOSNP) by the Anambra State Command’s Spokesperson, DSC Okadigbo Edwin, stated that, “The Assistant Commandant General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Zone K, Awka, ACG Felix Oke, has called on members of the public to cooperate and support the NSCDC in actualizing the Corps’ mandate on the protection of critical national assets and infrastructure, safeguarding of pipelines against Vandalism, monitoring and training of private security companies and intervention in the management of crisis and disaster.”
According to Okadigbo, “Mr. Oke stated this today, March 15, 2022 in his opening address while declaring open a one-day capacity-building seminar for all the Area Commanders and Divisional Officers within the Zone at the Zone K Headquarters, Awka, Anambra State.”
According to him, the competence-building seminar, apart from broadening and sharpening participants with skills necessary for effective discharge of their duties, also seeks to enhance their capacity to diligently deliver on the Corps’ mandate.
ACG Oke reaffirmed that the current Commandant General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Dr. Ahmed Abubakar Audi mni, vision and mission were based on foresight and a proactive approach to addressing current internal security threats and evolving crime dynamics in the country.
The activities of the Boko Haram insurgency, kidnapping and banditry are gradually crippling the economy of the nation while thousands of Nigerians have lost their lives. In the south-east states where we are, the activities of unknown gunmen are on the increase. We need therefore to dwell extensively on intelligence gathering, “he said.
He charged officers to have firm control of their respective jurisdictions, warning that any Area Commander or Divisional Officer who is found guilty of dereliction of duty would be promptly sanctioned.
The ACG admonished them to always lecture officers and men under their watch to key into the CGs’ vision to revamp, rejig, restructure, and reposition the Corps for better service delivery and shun all forms of corrupt practices, extortion, illegal duties, misuse of firearms, among others.
Mr. Oke, who is in charge of Anambra and Enugu States, tasked them with identifying black spots within the states through credible intelligence with a view to putting an end to criminality within the states.
The Zonal Commander encouraged them to conduct visibility patrols in order to boost public trust in the Corps and ensure harmony within their domains, emphasizing unequivocally that crimes and criminality within the two states must become a thing of the past, and thus officers and men must be aware of their responsibility in halting the ugly trend.
Mr. Oke urged residents of the zone to be law-abiding and endeavour to report any issue regarding threats to peace in their environment to the nearest NSCDC formation as operatives of the Corps in synergy with sister agencies would not rest on their oars.
