The FHHP enables staff across Fidelity Bank branches nationwide to identify pressing needs within their local communities and raise funds to address them. Management then matches the amount raised by employees and disburses the total sum for the execution of the selected projects.

Speaking during the presentation ceremony, the Chief Human Resources Officer, Fidelity Bank Plc, Mr. Charles Nwachukwu, reaffirmed the bank’s commitment to restoring hope and transforming lives. He noted that meaningful progress goes beyond financial performance and must include compassion and social impact.

“At Fidelity Bank, we believe that every individual deserves a second chance. Our approach to Corporate Social Responsibility is rooted in empathy — standing with communities, uplifting the vulnerable, and opening doors for brighter futures. By supporting inmates today, we are setting them on the true path of rehabilitation, empowering them to return tomorrow as productive and confident members of society,” Nwachukwu said.

Responding to the gesture, the Deputy Controller of Corrections at the Ikoyi Custodial Centre, Dr. Julius Ogueri, urged Nigerians to shun cybercrime and avoid stigmatizing former inmates, emphasizing the importance of reintegration.

Highlighting operational challenges faced by correctional facilities in Nigeria, Ogueri disclosed that the Ikoyi Correctional Centre, originally designed to accommodate 800 inmates, currently houses over 3,000 inmates. Of this number, 396 are convicted persons, while 3,604 are awaiting trial.

While expressing appreciation to Fidelity Bank for its intervention, he stressed the importance of rehabilitation and education in correctional centres. According to him, 72 inmates are currently studying with the National Open University of Nigeria, while 120 inmates have benefited from WAEC and GCE support programmes.
