Fidelity Bank Plc, a leading financial institution in Nigeria, has strengthened its commitment to environmental preservation and sustainable development by planting trees at Elegushi Beach, Lekki, Lagos, in partnership with Greenfingers Wildlife Initiative.

The activity was carried out under the bank’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) platform, the Fidelity Helping Hands Programme (FHHP), led by the bank’s newly inducted employees, known as the Vault Class. The employees selected tree planting as their community impact project, with Fidelity Bank providing matching financial support to ensure the initiative’s success.

Speaking at the event, Dr. Meksley Nwagboh, Divisional Head of Brand and Communications, Fidelity Bank Plc, stated,
“Environmental preservation is a key CSR pillar for us at Fidelity Bank. Protecting the earth is a shared responsibility. This initiative is part of our ongoing efforts to promote sustainable practices and safeguard our environment, including marine habitats, from pollution and degradation.”

In addition to tree planting, the Fidelity Bank team conducted a beach clean-up, removing waste from the shoreline and surrounding marine areas. Dr. Nwagboh emphasized the bank’s continued support for environmental conservation nationwide and its enduring partnership with the Nigerian Conservation Foundation (NCF).

“Tree planting is central to our climate action and resilience plan, and we aim to expand our environment-friendly initiatives continuously. Our partnership with Greenfingers Wildlife Initiative is one we intend to nurture further,” he added.

Mr. Chinedu Mogbo, Founder of Greenfingers Wildlife Initiative, praised Fidelity Bank’s proactive role in environmental sustainability, noting that the collaboration promotes safer, cleaner environments for humans and wildlife alike.

“Our partnership with Fidelity Bank reflects a shared mission to create a greener, safer environment. Planting trees enhances environmental safety, beautifies our surroundings, and restores natural balance,” Mogbo said.

This initiative reinforces Fidelity Bank’s ongoing environmental CSR efforts, including promoting sustainable living, combating climate change, protecting biodiversity, and conserving aquatic ecosystems.

With over 9.1 million customers, 255 business offices in Nigeria, and a subsidiary in the United Kingdom, FidBank UK Limited, Fidelity Bank Plc is recognized among Nigeria’s leading financial institutions.
