The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has addressed the circulation of an old video showing one of its personnel, Deputy Route Commander B. Ojeamiren, allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol.

The Corps clarified that the incident occurred in 2018 and had been thoroughly investigated, with disciplinary measures taken against the officer at the time.

In a statement issued on Wednesday by Assistant Corps Marshal and Corps Public Education Officer, Olusegun Ogungbemide, the FRSC reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining discipline within its ranks and condemned the behavior depicted in the video.

The statement highlighted that the disciplinary actions taken against the officer were publicly announced following the investigation. Additionally, it revealed that the officer passed away on November 6, 2024, after a prolonged illness

The FRSC urged the public to exercise caution when sharing outdated information, emphasizing the potential emotional toll on the grieving family and friends of the deceased.

Corps Marshal Shehu Mohammed called for responsible dissemination of news, stressing the importance of verifying the accuracy and relevance of information before recirculating it as recent.
