FRSC Partners LASTMA for Seamless Traffic Management, Zero Friction

The Lagos State sector of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) and the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), have forged stronger ties as traffic management institutions to achieve seamless traffic management and zero friction on the roads according to a statement signed by State Public Enlightenment Officer, RC Elizabeth O. Jayeola, and made available to the National Association of Online Security News Publishers (NAOSNP).
The agencies came to this partnership when in a move to enhance the said collaboration and foster strategic partnerships, the FRSC Sector Commander, Corps Commander Patrick D. Davou, led a delegation on a courtesy visit to the LASTMA on Tuesday. The visit underscored both agencies’ commitment to ensuring a more efficient and safer traffic environment in Lagos State.
The General Manager of LASTMA, Mr. Olalekan Oki, who warmly received the FRSC delegation, expressed his appreciation for the continuous efforts aimed at improving the traffic situation in Lagos. He noted that the enduring partnership between the two agencies was crucial in managing the state’s complex traffic dynamics.
Outlining the critical responsibilities of the FRSC, in his speech, which include Clearing obstructions from highways, Conducting road safety education for road users, Overseeing the issuance of driving licenses, Standardizing traffic codes and Designing and producing vehicle number plates, Corps Commander Davou emphasized the importance of joint patrol operations to enforce laws, particularly against the transportation of humans and animals in articulated vehicles, and to address overspeeding, especially on the Third Mainland Bridge.
On his part, Mr. Oki also reiterated LASTMA’s core duties, which focus on ensuring the smooth movement of goods and services, supporting economic growth, and providing efficient road safety management. He echoed the need for robust collaboration in clearing highway obstructions and assured continuous support from LASTMA in all joint efforts.
The event, which preaented an opportunity for deliberation on major traffic topics, saw senior officers from both agencies speaking on conducting traffic surveys on key routes, such as Ikorodu Road and nhancing collaboration in human capacity development to strengthen operational efficiency.
This collaboration is expected to significantly impact traffic management and safety in Lagos State.
