Governor Soludo’s Vision Transforms Anambra: Residents Applaud Progress on ‘Voices of Ndi Anambra

Governor Charles Soludo’s remarkable achievements in Anambra State have continued to garner widespread recognition, most recently during the popular program Voices of Ndi Anambra. Obi Ochije Modilim, a chieftain of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), applauded the governor’s strides in infrastructure development, particularly in the state capital, Awka, and beyond.
The program, hosted by renowned presenters Uchechukwu Ebunam and Favour Asiro, featured Modilim commending Governor Soludo’s exceptional governance, which has translated into numerous impactful projects.
Reflecting on the state’s history, Modilim revealed that when Anambra was created in 1991, Awka resembled a slum with only basic amenities such as electricity, water, and a general hospital. He noted that the city lacked the features of a typical state capital and was often ridiculed. However, under Governor Soludo’s administration, Awka has undergone significant transformation into a modern urban center.
“Awka did not look like a state capital; it was the worst in the country until Governor Soludo came along and made a difference,” Modilim stated. He highlighted the governor’s proactive approach, which included visiting communities in Awka to understand their challenges firsthand. Soludo was particularly alarmed by reports of severe flooding that displaced residents and caused fatalities.
Within three months of assuming office, the governor launched a regeneration project in Agu-Awka, focusing on constructing drainage systems to address the flooding issue. Today, residents live without fear of floods disrupting their lives.
“People can now move freely in Awka and its environs, thanks to the newly constructed roads,” Modilim remarked, emphasizing the administration’s dedication to improving infrastructure. He also commended the governor for facilities like Fun City and the completion of the new Government House complex, breaking a 34-year jinx, as Anambra had never previously had such a facility.
Law Mefor, the Commissioner for Information, lauded Soludo’s leadership, describing his passion for delivering solutions as unparalleled in Anambra’s history.
