The GTCO Food and Drink Festival, one of the most cherished culinary experiences of the year, has brought together food and drink enthusiasts once more.

The highly anticipated African food festival, now in its seventh edition, began yesterday, Friday, April 26, at the GTCentre, Victoria Island, Lagos, and will conclude tomorrow, Sunday, April 28, providing guests from all around with an excellent culinary experience.

Celebrate the rich and diverse culinary legacy of Africa with a dazzling exhibition of flavours, scents, aromas, and cultures at the GTCO Food and Drink event, widely regarded as the biggest culinary event on the continent, which brings together millions of food lovers and entrepreneurs.

This year, in addition to hundreds of food retailers showcasing an array of delectable offerings, the organisers have paraded a healthy selection of masters from all over the world for master classes, live cooking demonstrations, and tasting sessions. Nigerians are known to be enthusiastic consumers of food, culture, and everything in between.

The festival’s organisers stated at a pre-event news conference that it changes every year to meet the needs of the public and promote inclusivity.

This year, a family-friendly experience has been added as one of these improvements. In order to make the festival an amazing experience for the whole family, the organisers have put up a huge programme of kid-friendly events this year. With games, interactive exhibits, and more, a specifically created play area will keep the little ones occupied.

The festival also introduced a children’s baking workshop, which is a great way to introduce young cooks to the joys of baking and to help them become more creative and confident in the kitchen. Children unleashed their culinary brilliance and gained useful cooking skills in a playful and encouraging setting under the watchful supervision of Uche Annie Ugoka, from decorating cupcakes to creating their distinctive dishes.

Day two’s topics will surely provide attendees with an enticing learning environment, including Mastering Creamy Chocolate Desserts, Unlocking Your Wine Potential, Beyond Pasta: A Holistic Approach to Italian Cuisine, and Structure of Thai Food Through “Jaew.”

On the third day, the closing day’s hot topics will include: The Art of Whole Hog BBQ; Je ne sais quoi – The Classic French Masterclass with a Twist; Mexican Cuisine; Southern Coastal Cuisine; Indian Cuisine Beyond Curry; Mexican Cuisine; Mestizaje and Culture.

Group Chief Executive Officer of Guaranty Trust Holding Company Plc, Segun Agbaje, spoke at the 2024 GTCO Food and Drink Festival and said, “We are delighted to bring to our customers, exhibitors, and food lovers from across Africa and beyond, another edition of an event that is a celebration of not just food, but of the rich tapestry of cultures and traditions that make African cuisine so unique.” Given the current pressures that consumers and organisations face, our objective remains unchanged for curating this consumer-focused event. In addition to giving small food businesses in Nigeria a free, lively, and profitable platform to grow and prosper on, our goal is to continuously create unforgettable moments for everyone.
