The Executive Chairman Ikeja Local Government
Comrade Akeem Olalekan Dauda presented the 2026 Appropriation Bill, themed “Budget of Better Days 1.0”. The budget was received by the Leader of the 7th Legislative House of Ikeja Local Government Hon. Rasheed Ogunseye on behalf of the members Ikeja Legislative House.

On Presenting this budget to the Legislative House, the Chairman said that “the 2026 budget proposal is the outcome of broad consultations, including community stakeholders’ engagement and a budget retreat, aimed at ensuring inclusiveness, transparency, and alignment with the developmental needs of the people of Ikeja.”
He further said that the total budget size for the 2026 fiscal year is ₦13,923,882,601.48. The Chairman explained that Recurrent Expenditure stands at ₦7,350,523,690.96, representing 52.8% of the budget, and is targeted at effective administration, personnel welfare, and seamless service delivery. Capital Expenditure is projected at ₦6,573,358,910.52, accounting for 47.2%, and is designed to drive visible and sustainable development across the Local Government.

Chairman AKOD further outlined the sectoral distribution of the capital expenditure, stating that 26.8% is allocated to Works and Infrastructure, 7.09% to Education, 4.08% to Environment, 4.80% to Health, while 5.03% is earmarked for other human capital development sectors, including youth empowerment, women development and social welfare programmes.
When speaking with the publisher of The Eye News Seun Fakoya on the budget he said “When we assume office in July 2025, we had our own manifesto that we called ‘Better Days Are Here’, so that’s why we call our budget ‘Better Days Budget 1.0’ .

In my first 100 days in office, we were able to construct four roads, renovation of 12 classrooms in Agidingbi Primary School. We have also bought two lands for Primary Health Centers, one in Ipodo, Saleawori ward A and another one in Alausa ward F. We have done empowerment programs, back-to-school programs and so on.

Haven achieved all these within our 100 days in office and with this budget that we presented to the Legislative House of Ikeja Local Government, you can be rest assured for better days ahead in our communitie by God’s grace. Come January 1st 2026 the people of Ikeja will start to experience the new development that be happening in their areas. In terms of Education , Health and different empowerment programs.

I want the people of Ikeja Local Government to know that for us to do more, we will need more funds, so for us to continue our good works in Ikeja Local Government, we need to collect rates and tax. So I want appeal to the people of Ikeja that they should coporate with us and believe in us as well. They should also know that whatever they are giving us, we are going to use it judiciously to develop our community.

So am appealing to them that they should cooperate with us and make sure that they pay their tax and rates as at when due.”
Also Alhaji Mayegun Dally-Adeokun the LGA Chairman of Ikeja Local Government and the Chairman of all LGA Chairmen in Lagos State. When speaking with the publisher of The Eye News, he gave his assessment on the budget presented by AKOD, he said ” The budget presentation has christened better days ahead, we know that this budget for 2026 will usher in more developments, in terms of infrastructure and other social services.

The 100 days achievements is a true indication of good governance. Within 100 days in office of the Executive Chairman of Ikeja Local Government Comrade Akeem Olalekan Dauda, he constructed four roads, school renovation with bore hole and empowerment programs. Now we should expect bigger things in 2026.
My advice to the people of Ikedja is that they should continue to pay their dues to the local government.”

Executive Committee led by the LGA Chairman, Alhaji Adekunle Dally-Adeokun, and his Vice Chairman, Prince Oluranti Olufon, Chief Funso Ologunde, Apostle Olowoporoku, Barr. Ladigbolu and host of respected party leaders
