Idinye Criticizes Bode George Over Atiku’s 2027 Presidential Prospects in PDP

By People’s Voice Nigeria | News

High Chief Jacob Egietseme Idinye, a two-time governorship aspirant in Edo State and chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has strongly criticized former Party’s Deputy National Chairman (South), Chief Olabode George, for his remarks against former Vice President Alhaji Atiku Abubakar.

George had claimed that Atiku would not become Nigeria’s president in 2027, a statement that Idinye has dismissed as both impudent and unsavory.

High Chief Idinye made these passionate remarks at a breakfast meeting with selected journalists on Saturday in a popular Ikoyi hotel, Lagos.

Idinye emphasized that the PDP should focus on becoming stronger and more formidable, creating a niche for itself to win the 2027 presidential election rather than engaging in disputes that could harm the party’s fortunes.

“Chief Olabode George should continue to wallow in self-delusion and ego trip,” Idinye remarked, asserting that George lacks the authority to determine who will lead the nation in 2027.

Idinye, a media personality, also pointed out George’s previous declarations against President Bola Tinubu, highlighting the contradiction in his predictions.

“This is a man who swore that Tinubu would not win the 2023 presidential election and even vowed to renounce his Nigerian citizenship and go into exile if Tinubu became President,” Idinye noted.

He further emphasized that the fate of Nigeria’s presidency in 2027 is not in George’s hands but in those of God and the Nigerian people who will exercise their franchise and civic responsibilities.

“If God says Atiku will be President in 2027 and of course he is highly qualified, a thousand Olabode Georges cannot annul it,” he stated, urging George to cease his attacks on Atiku and focus on his own political miscalculations.

“It is clear that Bode George is working against PDP and Atiku while also being subservient to some moles in the party because of what he is benefiting from them. We have not forgotten his support for G-5 Governors in the 2023 Presidential election; they all worked against Atiku and never hid it.

“Similarly, George was seen in brazen anti-party activities by openly endorsing a Labour Party candidate in Lagos State at the expense of PDP candidate, Dr. Olajide Adediran (Jandor). He campaigned against Jandor with impunity, disdain, and utter resentment. That is the same character talking about Atiku’s political ambition. Nothing is new about George having stripped himself of being an elder statesman or a stalwart of PDP, a party that made him.

“Please allow me to share my views amid speculation of PDP acting National Chairman, Alhaji Umar Damagum, continuing in office. He should leave the stage when the ovation is loudest. The gentleman should go back to his zone and allow a North Central Chairman to emerge. That is my take.”
