JUNE 12 DEMOCRACY DAY:
A CALL FOR SERIOUS DEBATE ON THE EXISTENCE OF THE ENTITY CALLED NIGERIA – BARRISTER FADE OJAMOMI

Declaring June 12, a democracy day as against the May 29 handing over day had not truly represented what that day stands for especially based on the significance of the sole hero of democracy in 1993, Chief MKO Abiola.

In a press statement personally signed by the leading candidate of the Ilaje Constituency 1 under the party that produced the late MKO Abiola – SDP, Barrister Ojamomi Fade’ said this year’s democracy day should be the one that calls for serious debate on the collective existence of our dear country Nigeria.

“The unholy marriage between the Southern and Northern Protectorates that birthed the entity called Nigeria had made it practically impossible for us to fully acknowledge the essence of June 12 looking at the happenings bedeviling our society today.”

“We can say without equivocation that the present leadership of the country under President Muhammadu Buhari only paid lip service to the declaration of June 12 as Democracy Day only to warm himself and that of his party- APC into the hearts of Nigerians.”

“Today’s democracy day isn’t a true representation of the sacrifice made by the fallen hero of democracy- MKO Abiola”, he bemoaned.

Furthermore, the Social Democratic Party Candidate,, Barrister Ojamomi Fade, at this material time enjoin his Constituents to be looking forward to seeing the true dividends of democracy as his coming into the hallowed chamber will herald good things expected of a state legislator.

“This time is a call to sober reflection as I enjoin our people to expect the true dividends of democracy from our party – SDP which is fast gaining momentum as the striking alternative for the people”

“It’s a thing of joy that I am contesting under the same party Late Chief MKO Abiola contested- Social Democratic Party in 1993 restoring the hope of the people and he won but his election was annulled by the military junta – Gen. Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida. Howbeit, the harrowing experience he had made me as a privileged flag Bearer of his party in Ilaje Constituency I to see him as a fallen hero and the father of modern democracy”, he concluded
