JUST IN: OLOJA OF AGO-OJA ELEVATED AND CROWNED
Today Governor Seyi Makinde has elevated 14 high chiefs and Baales in Oyo town to the status of crown-wearing Obas, presenting them with instruments of office, including staff and certificates. The newly elevated monarchs include the Alago-Oja of Ago-Oja Land, Oba Ganiyu Busari; the Iba Samu of Oyo Empire, Oba Lamidi Jimoh; and the Bashorun Oyo, among others.
Governor Makinde, represented by his deputy, gave crown and staff of office to Alago Oja of Ago Oja kingdom and others.
The governor also gifted them brand new cars and assured they will receive monthly salaries from the state government. This move is part of Makinde’s efforts to strengthen traditional institutions and promote peace and development at the grassroots .
The ceremony was attended by prominent figures, including Ambassador Taofeek Arapaja, Chief Mrs Mutiat Ladoja, and Senator Monsurat Sunmonu. Makinde’s administration has been actively involved in elevating traditional leaders, with several coronations taking place during his tenure.
