In response to this menace, largely exacerbated by ongoing construction works on the bridge joints along both the inward and outward lanes of the expressway, the Lagos Sector Commander, Corps Commander Kehinde Ganiyu Hamzat, initiated a joint intervention patrol in collaboration with the Ogun State Sector Command of the FRSC, the Corridor 1 Commander, and officers of the Warewa Police Station.
The operation was aimed at enforcing traffic regulations, restoring sanity on the corridor, and preventing avoidable road traffic crashes that have continued to threaten lives and property.
During the patrol, several traffic violators were apprehended. One of the motorists arrested, Koko Moses (Male), who drove a Volkswagen vehicle with registration number MUS 89 YG, was found driving against traffic and without a driver’s licence.

The offender was charged to the Ojodu Abiodun Magisterial District by CSP Ayegbede John, the Divisional Police Officer, Warewa Police Station. Upon arraignment, the court found the offender guilty and sentenced him to two months’ imprisonment.
The Sector Commander described the act of driving against traffic as reckless, unlawful, and a major contributor to fatal crashes on the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway. He warned that the Command, in collaboration with sister agencies, will continue sustained enforcement and prosecution of offenders to deter others from engaging in such dangerous behaviour.
Motorists are strongly advised to exercise patience, obey traffic laws, and follow lawful diversions put in place during construction activities. No inconvenience justifies risking lives or violating traffic regulations.
The FRSC Lagos Sector Command reiterates its commitment to ensuring safety, discipline, and free flow of traffic along all highways within its jurisdiction.
