In a major breakthrough, the Lagos State Police Command has apprehended the notorious criminal who attacked popular Nigerian hip hop star Keshinro Ololade Sodiq, popularly known as Lil Kesh, tracing him all the way to Kano State. The arrest was carried out by the State Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Panti, Yaba, following a meticulously planned operation.

The suspect, Adewale Mathew, allegedly attacked Lil Kesh on 19th July 2025 at the apartment of a female acquaintance in Chevron, Lekki. Armed with two kitchen knives, Mathew reportedly slashed the musician’s throat and stomach, leaving him critically injured, while stealing valuables including a gold necklace, diamond ring, and bracelets worth millions of naira.

Police reports indicate that the suspect also forced Lil Kesh to provide his bank account and phone passwords, which he allegedly used to purchase gold worth ₦5.2 million from a dealer in Tejuosho, Yaba. Mathew personally collected the gold before fleeing the scene.

During interrogation, Mathew confessed to the crime and implicated Lil Kesh’s female host as the alleged mastermind behind the robbery. Investigations are ongoing to verify these claims, with all involved, including the apartment’s security personnel, cooperating fully.

CP Olohundare Moshood Jimoh praised the professionalism and bravery of the CID operatives, calling the arrest a major victory in the fight against violent crime in Lagos State. He also urged the public to provide information that can help dismantle criminal networks and bring offenders to justice.
