Lekucci Global Launches 2022 Fashion Collection Named “AFROCENTRIC”
Afrocentricity is an idea and a philosophy that gained momentum during the era when blacks were colonised without reference to their culture, language, or place. A very potent movement in the 40’s that began in Senegal and remodelled into a fashion statement in the 70’s in West Africa.
Afrocentric Collection features combinations of mainstream fabrics that represent contemporary Africa with a blend of selected foremost pieces from Africa’s primordial art, fabrics, and accessories.
Speaking at the launching of the Afrocentric collection, the Brand Manager, Fadeshola Ojamomi, said, “Fashion is very important. It is life-enhancing and, like everything that gives pleasure, it is worth doing well. And in a bid to ensure clients look more fashionable in 2023, they had to introduce the Afrocentric collection.
The CEO of Lekucci Global, Mr. Adelekan Mogbodofo, said, “African identity and black nationalism are often expressed through the wearing of African and African-inspired dress. The Afrocentric collections are cultural products of the indigenous Naija people and the black community in diaspora and are worn exclusively or integrated into Western dress.
The Afrocentric Collection is an African-centered fashion statement, designed by a foundational Nigerian fashion curator, chattered tailor, wardrobe consultant, and stylist named Adelekan Mogbodofo.
