In a strong show of private-sector support for public safety, Mikano Motors has donated a fleet of its Max pickup vehicles to the Lagos State Security Trust Fund (LSSTF), reinforcing ongoing efforts to strengthen security operations across the state.

The official handover ceremony took place at the Mikano Motors showroom in Victoria Island, where senior executives of Mikano International Limited, led by its Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Mofid Karameh, hosted top officials of the LSSTF headed by the Executive Secretary and CEO, Dr. Ayo Ogunsan. The event featured a high-level reception and a guided tour of the showroom.

Speaking at the event, Karameh commended Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, for what he described as sustained and strategic investment in security infrastructure, noting that safety remains a cornerstone of economic growth and prosperity in Lagos.

He said the Governor’s recent Private Sector Breakfast Meeting created an effective platform for business leaders to better understand the scale of government efforts in securing the state, while also encouraging stronger corporate participation.

“The Governor’s commitment to security is evident, and it is yielding tangible results for Lagos. At Mikano, we believe in supporting initiatives that safeguard lives and property, and we will continue to contribute to strengthening the state’s security architecture,” Karameh said.

In recognition of the donation, Dr. Ogunsan presented the LSSTF Distinguished Honor Award to Mikano International Limited, which was received by Karameh on behalf of the company.

Conducting the official handover, National Operations Manager of Mikano, Mr. Syam Abdulkadir, said the donation reflects the company’s long-standing commitment to the safety and well-being of Lagos residents.

“We are proud to support the LSSTF with the donation of our Max pickup vehicles. This is our way of standing with the people of Lagos to ensure a safer environment for everyone,” he stated.

Abdulkadir highlighted Mikano’s decades-long presence in Nigeria as proof of its dedication to nation-building.

“We have operated in Nigeria for over three decades. This donation shows our commitment to economic development and security. We thank Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and the LSSTF leadership for their vision and partnership,” he added.

Receiving the vehicles, Dr. Ogunsan praised Mikano for leading by example, describing the gesture as a timely response to the Governor’s call for increased private-sector involvement in security funding.

“This is a proud moment for Lagos, for LSSTF, and for Mikano. The Governor, as Chief Fundraiser, mobilized the private sector during the recent breakfast meeting, and Mikano is the first to answer that call,” Ogunsan said.

He emphasized that contributions to the Fund are not limited to cash donations.

“We welcome equipment, vehicles, and other resources that can enhance our operational capacity. Mikano has demonstrated true partnership,” he noted.

Ogunsan also urged Nigerians to support businesses that invest in public safety, adding that the donated vehicles would be deployed responsibly to enhance security operations across the state.

“We appreciate this gesture and assure Lagosians that these vehicles will be put to judicious use,” he said.
