MINISTER OF MARINE AND BLUE ECONOMY, OYETOLA ENGAGES UNDERGRADUATES, UNIVERSITY COMMUNITY TO OPPORTUNITIES IN BLUE ECONOMY

The Honorable Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Alhaji Adegboyega Oyetola will engage students and the entire university community of the University of Lagos on the massive employment and business opportunities which exist in the Marine and Blue Economy sector. National Association of Online Security News Publishers, NAOSNP can report that the Minister will declare open the Blue Industry Career Insights which is organized by thr Employment Clinic and the University of Lagos.

 

The interactive session with the students of University of Lagos and the entire University Community is designed to expose Nigerian youths, especially the students of University of Lagos, to the employment and job creation opportunities that abound in Nigeria’s marine and blue economy.

 

The Honorable Minister for Marine and Blue Economy, Gboyega Oyetola will be engaging the University Management led by its Vice-Chancellor on the Institute of Maritime Studies and other key issues while also interacting with the students on the potentials of the nation’s marine and blue economy and how to position themselves in the emerging landscape as employable citizens and future leaders. The event is scheduled to take place on Thursday, July 11, 2024, by 10am, at Tayo Aderinokun Hall, University of Lagos.

 

The host is the Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Folasade Ogunsola, OON, FAS and the Convener is Employment Clinic, led by Princess Ronke Kosoko.

 

Other notable speakers are Mr Bola Oyebamiji, Managing Director, National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA), Princess Ronke Kosoko, Chief Executive Officer, Maritime Innovations Hub, Mr Jama Onwubuariri, Co-Founder/Managing Director of Trucks Transit Parks (TTP); Ms Beatrice Eyong, UNWOMEN Country Representative Nigeria and ECOWAS; Dr Detoun Ogwo, CEO Skills Development Practice, and Mr Moses Fadipe, Project Consultant/MACN Project in West African Sub-region.

 

Speaking to National Association of Online Security News Publishers, NAOSNP, the Founder of Employment Clinic and CEO, Maritime Innovations Hub, Princess Ronke Kosoko says a lack of awareness, knowledge and mentorship is one of the major reasons why many Nigerian youths are unemployed, a gap she has been bridging through her organization over the last fifteen years.

 

According to Kosoko, the event will further bridge the gap and expose participating students to the abundant opportunities, investments and jobs emerging in the new marine and blue economy ecosystem.

 

Princess Kosoko notes that Nigerians, irrespective of status, should not lack jobs but because the nation is yet to fully exploit her natural resources and strategically harness human capital across sectors which marine and blue economy is one of them, for the benefit of her citizens.

 

“The event is a sort of homecoming for some of the speakers who are products of the University including the Honourable Minister for Marine and Blue Economy, Dr. Detoun Ogwo and Princess Ronke Kosoko who are returning to their alma-mater to share and impart their experiences with the University Community. Many of these personalities are gurus in the marine and blue economy,” says Kosoko.
