The National Association of Online Security News Publishers (NAOSNP) has congratulated the newly appointed Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, Tijani Fatai, on his assumption of office, while extending hands of fellowship and professional camaraderie.

In a statement signed by the National Public Relations Officer, Eric Elezuo, the Association described Fatai’s appointment as a “round peg in a round hole,” citing his vast experience, intelligence, and notable achievements in policing.

“We, as an Association of top security reporters and publishers, saddled with the responsibility of objective reportage in matters of national interest and societal development, felicitate with the new Commissioner of Police, Tijani Fatai, on his appointment and resumption of office as the Lagos Police Chief.

“It is with a deep sense of responsibility that we note CP Fatai is a thoroughbred officer with extensive policing experience, capable of positively transforming the security and safety architecture of Lagos State. We therefore believe that his appointment will bring about the desired change in policing, including improved welfare for officers,” the statement read.

The Association further pledged its continued collaboration with the Nigeria Police Force in Lagos under Fatai’s leadership.

“We welcome the new CP and pledge our continued support and collaboration with the Lagos Police Command as he strives to make a success of this new assignment,” the statement concluded.

Commending the appointment, NAOSNP President, Samson Oki, described CP Fatai as a man of integrity, diligence, and attention to detail, expressing confidence in his capacity to elevate policing standards in the state.

“Lagos State is fortunate to have CP Tijani Fatai at this time. He will not only consolidate on existing achievements but also deploy his wealth of experience, expertise, and intelligence to ensure enhanced security and safety across the state,” Oki said.

CP Tijani Fatai, psc, assumes office as the 42nd Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, succeeding Olohundare Jimoh, who has been redeployed to Zone 2 Command as Assistant Inspector-General of Police.

A native of Agege Local Government Area in Lagos, Fatai attended Anwar-ul-Islam College, Agege, between 1979 and 1984. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Philosophy from Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago-Iwoye.

He enlisted in the Nigeria Police Force as a Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police on June 10, 1994. Prior to his current appointment, he served in several strategic roles, including Commissioner of Police, Eastern Port, Port Harcourt, and Deputy Commissioner of Police in the Department of Operations at the Force Headquarters Annex in Lagos.

His distinguished career also spans roles as Assistant Commissioner of Police, Area Commander in multiple jurisdictions, Officer-in-Charge of the Homicide Section at SCID Lagos, and Divisional Police Officer in various commands across the country.
