Nigeria Police Academy Commandant Decorates 32 Newly Promoted Assistant Superintendents of Police, ASPs…

The Commandant of the Nigeria Police Academy yesterday decorated thirty-two (32) newly promoted Assistant Superintendents of Police (ASPs), following their successful transition from the Inspectorate Cadre to the Superintendent Cadre.

The decoration ceremony, held at the Academy, marked a significant milestone in the careers of the officers, symbolizing not only their elevation in rank but also the increased responsibilities that come with their new status.

In his address, the Commandant congratulated the officers on their well-deserved promotion and charged them to demonstrate greater commitment, professionalism, and dedication to duty. He emphasized that their transition into the Superintendent Cadre places higher expectations on them, both in leadership and service delivery.

“This promotion is not merely a change in rank but a call to higher responsibility,” the Commandant stated. “As officers in the Superintendent Cadre, you are expected to exhibit exemplary conduct, sound judgment, and unwavering commitment to the core values of the Nigeria Police Force.”

He further reminded the newly promoted ASPs that discipline remains the bedrock of effective policing and urged them to uphold the highest standards of integrity and ethical conduct at all times.

The Commandant also underscored their critical role as mentors within the Academy environment. He noted that as senior officers, they serve as role models to cadets undergoing training and must therefore lead by example in character, professionalism, and dedication.

“You must always keep at the back of your minds that you are mentors to the cadets. Your actions, decisions, and comportment will shape the next generation of police officers,” he added.

The Commandant commended the 22nd indigenous Inspector-General of Police IGP KAYODE ADEOLU EGBETOKUN PhD, NPM, and his management team for their unwavering commitment to personnel welfare and career progression within the Force. He noted that since assuming office in June 2023, the IGP has successfully overseen the promotion of 141,054 officers, describing the achievement as unprecedented and a clear demonstration of leadership dedication to boosting morale and enhancing operational efficiency across the Nigeria Police Force.

He stated that the promotion of the 32 ASPs is part of the broader reform-driven agenda of the current police leadership aimed at rewarding merit, strengthening institutional capacity, and motivating officers for improved service delivery.

The ceremony concluded with the formal decoration of the officers and a renewed pledge by the newly promoted ASPs to discharge their duties diligently and in line with the vision and mission of the Nigeria Police Force.

The Nigeria Police Academy remains committed to producing highly disciplined, professional, and service-oriented officers equipped to meet contemporary security challenges.
