Board Member, Lagos State Security Trust Fund (LSSTF) and Chairman of POCACOV (Police Campaign Against Cultism and Other Vices) Lagos State, Dr Ayo Ogunsan, has been invited to participate as a discussant at the 18th Africa Security Watch Awards and Conference.

The prestigious event, jointly organised by Security Watch Africa Initiatives and Stellenbosch University, South Africa, will be held from December 10 to 12, 2024, at the Radisson Blu Hotel in Doha, Qatar.

This year’s conference, themed “Developing Module for People-Centric Governance Towards Enhancement of Peace and Security,” seeks to tackle Africa’s most pressing security challenges by proposing actionable solutions for peace and stability.

Dr. Ogunsan will lead discussions on the topic: “Emplacement of People-Oriented Policing for Security and Development in Africa.”

Ogunsan is expected to bring to the fore his extensive knowledge and experience in security management, drawn from his leadership role at POCACOV and his membership in the Lagos State Security Trust Fund (LSSTF). His contributions will reflect his expertise in fostering collaborative, community-focused security solutions that promote development and peace in Africa.

The event will bring together key stakeholders, including African heads of government, security agency leaders, policymakers, and international experts, to brainstorm innovative strategies to combat terrorism, organised crime, piracy, and other security threats.

Participants will also work toward developing a holistic framework for safeguarding African communities and waterways.

In their letter of invitation, co-signed by Patrick Agbambu, International Coordinator/CEO, and Prof. Henri Fouche’, Chair of the International Awards Panel of Judges, the organizers emphasized the need for a pragmatic, people-oriented approach to governance and policing to enhance security and sustainable development in Africa.

Ogunsan’s inclusion as a discussant highlights his notable contributions to security and community development in Nigeria and reinforces his commitment to fostering collaborative solutions to Africa’s security challenges.

The event will also feature the Africa Security Watch Awards, which recognise outstanding individuals and organizations for their excellence and innovation in promoting security across the continent.
