Ondo 2024: Aiyedatiwa Best For APC’s Ticket – Prince Adeya
A business mogul and chieftain of All Progressives Congress (APC) Prince Adekunle Adeya has appealed to the leadership of the party to adopt Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State as the candidate of the party for the Ondo State governorship election scheduled for November 16.
Although Adeya said not less than 16 aspirants including the Governor have been cleared to contest Saturday’s primary election, the business mogul however described Aiyedatiwa as the best man among the rest to fix the state.
Speaking with reporters in Akure, the state capital on Tuesday, Adeya said the giant strides of Aiyedatiwa since he came on board on December 27 last year qualified him for the right of first refusal for the APC’s ticket.
Adeya noted that one of the hallmarks of the progressive family as initiated by the late sage Chief Obafem Awolowo is the prioritisation of education, saying the governor’s administration has demonstrated this by approving the recruitment of hundreds of school teachers.
His words “If our children are going to be leaders of tomorrow, then an investment in the human resources to drive quality education is the key. This is an intentional step to bring back the old and enviable glory of the state as a leading state in the area of education in Nigeria.”
According to him, school children would be resuming for another session soon and Governor Aiyedatiwa had brought back the school buses that were carted during the last administration.
The return of shuttle buses would help ease the tension of school runs, as the buses shall commence smooth operations of the school free-ride programme.
On infrastructural development, Adeya revealed that the governor within his 100 days in office has completed a number of roads that were put on hold prior to the demise of Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu.
Adeya said “Another area of interest where the governor has shown his readiness to serve the people was the quick intervention in revamping the Ondo State Trauma and Surgical Center, Ondo. He truly values the health status of the citizens. Aiyedatiwa has in the last few months shown that he is a man for all people of the state.”
He called the attention of the citizens to how the governor had paid the retirement benefits of the state retirees just as he noted that the governor gave approval for prompt payment of workers’ salaries.
The business mogul said the business community in the state would be comfortable working with Governor Aiyedatiwa and called for massive support from all citizens of the state.
