One person has been confirmed dead following a fatal road traffic crash that occurred in the early hours of Monday at Eleko Junction along the Lekki–Epe Expressway, Lagos.
According to a press statement e-signed to The People’s Voice Nigeria News by the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Lagos Sector Command, through its Sector Public Education Officer, SRC Oluwadamilola Jayeola, the crash was caused by speed violation and loss of control.
The statement revealed that the incident involved two vehicles: a commercial Bajaj motorcycle with registration number KSF 813 QR and a private Toyota Camry with registration number LSD 514 HX. A total of two adult male persons were involved in the crash.
“Regrettably, one person lost his life, while the other survived without injury,” the FRSC disclosed.
FRSC operatives, working in synergy with personnel of the Nigeria Police Force, swiftly moved to manage the situation. The deceased was evacuated by the Police to the morgue, while the vehicles involved were recovered to ensure the free flow of traffic and prevent secondary crashes along the busy corridor.
Reacting to the incident, the Sector Commander, FRSC Lagos Sector Command, Corps Commander Kehinde G. Hamzat, expressed sympathy to the family of the deceased and reiterated the Corps’ call on all road users particularly motorists and motorcyclists to adhere strictly to speed limits, exercise patience, and maintain full control of their vehicles at all times.
