Ọnwa Dezemba: Governor Soludo Rolls Out Christmas Festival Programmes

The Anambra State Government, under the leadership of the Solution Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Charles Soludo, CFR, has unveiled a rich lineup of events for the highly anticipated Ọnwa Dezemba Christmas festival, designed to make December 2025 a memorable season for Ndi Anambra.
According to the State Commissioner for Information, Law Mefor, thenwa Dezemba is a carefully curated cultural and entertainment extravaganza aimed at promoting unity, celebrating Anambra’s rich heritage, and providing fun-filled experiences for residents and visitors throughout the festive season.
Activities will commence on December 18 with #OnwaDezemba City Block, dedicated to youths and Gen Z. The event, featuring music, performances, and exciting entertainment, will hold at 6:00 p.m. at Awka City Stadium (Solution Fun City).
On December 20, the #OnwaDezemba Christmas Carol (Cankata) will take place at 4:00 p.m. at Alex Ekwueme Square, Awka, setting the tone for the Christmas celebration.
December 25 is reserved for children, with the #OnwaDezemba Children’s Christmas Festival scheduled for 2:00 p.m. at Solution Fun City.
Cultural heritage takes centre stage on December 27 with the #OnwaDezemba Ịgba Mmanwụ Festival, holding at 2:00 p.m. at Alex Ekwueme Square, Awka. The festival continues on December 28 at Ekwulobia Township Stadium from 2:00 p.m., and later moves to Onitsha on December 29, where it will light up Ezechima Primary School from 2:00 p.m.
Also on December 29, football lovers will be treated to the #OnwaDezemba Novelty Match, kicking off at 2:00 p.m. at Awka Township Stadium.
One of the highlights of the festival is the #OnwaDezemba Flavour Home Coming Concert, scheduled for December 30 at 5:00 p.m. at Solution Fun City, where Anambra-born music superstar Flavour n’Abania will thrill fans with a special homecoming performance.
The celebration extends into the New Year with activities promoting healthy living and entertainment. On January 3, the #OnwaDezemba Walk for Life will begin at 7:00 a.m. at Alex Ekwueme Square, Awka. Later that day, by 5:00 p.m., the #OnwaDezemba LOL (Laugh Out Loud) Anambra, a stand-up comedy show, will take place at Solution Fun City.
The festival will climax on January 4 with the #OnwaDezemba All-White Old School Night, scheduled for 6:00 p.m. at Solution Fun City, where attendees are encouraged to dress in white and enjoy classic old-school music.
All the activities have been thoughtfully designed to enable Ndi Anambra to fully enjoy the Christmas and New Year holiday season, while celebrating the state’s rich culture, creativity, and vibrant entertainment landscape.
