The Ooni of Ife, His Imperial Majesty Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, Ojaja II, will be honoured as the Royal Father of the Day at the prestigious New Telegraph Awards Night and Dinner, scheduled to hold this Friday at the Grand Ballroom of the Oriental Hotels, Lagos.

In the same event, veteran journalist and former Governor of Ogun State, Aremo Olusegun Osoba, has accepted to serve as Event Chairman, bringing decades of experience in both journalism and public service to the high-profile gathering.

The New Telegraph Awards Night/Dinner is a star-studded occasion that recognises excellence across governance, business, banking, finance, sports, and public and private sector achievements. Governors, captains of industry, executives, and other prominent figures from across Nigeria will be honoured, with nine state governors already confirmed to attend.

In a letter personally delivered to the Ooni by the Managing Director and Editor-in-Chief of Daily Telegraph Publishing Company, Mr. Ayodele Aminu, the paramount ruler was chosen as the Royal Father of the Day for his decade-long dedication to service, excellence, and public good as the leader of the Yoruba Nation.

The letter highlighted, “Your Highness, it is important to let you know that you were chosen not only for your position as the Paramount Ruler of one of Nigeria’s largest and most homogenous nations but also because of your unwavering commitment to service, excellence, reward, and honesty in your over 10-year reign on the throne of your ancestors.”

Similarly, Aremo Osoba was selected as Event Chairman in recognition of his enduring contributions to journalism, his leadership in the profession, and his ability to bridge generational gaps among journalists. Aminu remarked that Osoba “reflects the dream of not only journalists but every profession because he has not forgotten his roots and continues to identify with colleagues across age and experience.”

The event promises an evening of celebration, inspiration, and recognition, showcasing Nigeria’s finest leaders in public service, media, and industry.
