POWA President, Elizabeth Egbetokun Visits Delta State, Empowers Wives of Police Officers, Other Vulnerable Women, Promised Unfettered Support To All Officers’ Wives
The National President of the Police Officers Wives Association (POWA) and wife of the 22nd Indigenous Inspector-General of Police, Dr. (Mrs) Elizabeth Egbetokun, has today paid a three-day working visit to Delta State Command, National Association of Online Security News Publishers, NAOSNP can report.
In a press statement e-signed and released to the National Association of Online Security News Publishers, NAOSNP by the Delta State Command’s Spokesperson, DSP Bright Edafe stated that, “The National President of the Police Officers Wives Association (POWA) and wife of the 22nd Indigenous Inspector-General of Police, Dr (Mrs) Elizabeth Egbetokun, paid a three-day visit to Delta State Command.”
According to the statement, “The POWA President alongside her Excos which includes wives of DIGs, AIGs, and CPs arrived the State on 16th February 2024 with a clear three-point agenda which are Welfare, Health, and Education. She paid a courtesy call to the Commissioner of Police Delta State, CP Abaniwonda Olufemi, and members of the Command’s management team. On Saturday 17th February 2024 at about 0800 hours, the POWA President proceeded to Orchid Hotel, Asaba for the Empowerment Program where she empowered One Hundred and Fifty-Five vulnerable women, including wives of deceased Police officers who paid the ultimate prize while on duty.
The POWA President stated that empowerment is not just a word, but a commitment to providing the necessary tools to enable them to thrive in the face of challenges while reiterating that the role they play in the lives of officers and the society is immeasurable and their strength and dedication deserve utmost appreciation.”
“The August visitor further proceeded to the Palace of the Olu of Warri Kingdom, HRM Ogiama Atuwatsa III Utieyinoritsetsola Emiko, after which she visited the Ovie of Uvwie Kingdom, HRM Dr. Emmanuel Sediso Oon (JP) the Abe 1 of Uvwie Kingdom. The POWA National President also paid a condolence visit to Asagba’s Palace in Asaba, where she commiserated with the palace on the demise of their late King, HRM Obi (Prof) Joseph Chike Edozien CFR, JP.”
“In continuation of her courtesy visits, on Monday 19th February 2024, she paid a courtesy visit to the Delta State Governor His Excellency, RT (Hon) Sheriff Oborevwori at the State Government House, Asaba. His Excellency received the POWA President and assured her that his government would continually support the mandate of POWA in whatever capacity needed.”
