Presidency Slams Ndume Over Claims of Ethnic Bias in Appointments
By The People’s Voice Nigeria | News
The Presidency has hit back at Senator Mohammed Ali Ndume’s accusations of ethnic favoritism in President Bola Tinubu’s appointments, labeling his comments as “hypocritical” and “selective.”
Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, emphasized that the Senator’s claims ignored significant facts. He pointed out that President Tinubu recently appointed two individuals from Ndume’s senatorial district to key roles at NNPC Limited, including the company’s Chairman.
Onanuga characterized Ndume’s remarks as part of a recurring pattern of “rabble-rousing” and “headline-chasing” that often turns out to be baseless. He reassured Nigerians that the President’s appointments prioritize merit, regional representation, and the ability to serve the nation effectively, not tribal considerations as suggested by Ndume.
The Presidency urged politicians to elevate the quality of public discourse and avoid spreading misinformation and unfounded criticisms.
