DAILY POST gathered that some students on Monday during the inauguration of the newly elected Students Union executives displayed placards with an inscription “No to fee hike”.

The inauguration was attended by the Vice Chancellor of the university, Professor Kayode Adebowale and other principal officers of the institution.

Our correspondent gathered that the students who displaced the placards with the inscription “No to fee hike” were arrested by the security operatives who were present at the event.

The arrested students included Ayodele Aduwo, Adeyeye Olorunfemi, Nice Linus, and Mide Gbadegbesin.

Our correspondent learnt that the students were beaten by the university security personnel before they were handed over to the men of operation.

DAILY POST gathered that the students have been released after much pressure from the students and other stakeholders.

But the Public Relations Officer of the institution, Mrs Adejoke Akinpelu, said that the rumor of the students arrest was mere propaganda by the students.

“It is not true. It is not true. I said it is not true, it is just propaganda by those students.

“We were having the swearing-in of the new SU executives. They carried placards and nobody touched them.”
