SPECIAL MARSHALS UNITS 73 DOMINION AND 67 PEACE HOUSE OF RS2. 113 IKOTUN UNIT COMMAND ORGANISE TRAINING FOR THEIR MEMBERS

In a bid to equip all the Special Marshals members of units 73 Dominion and unit 67 Peace House under Ikotun Unit Command, a Training Retreat was organised for them with the theme: “Empowering Special Marshals for Future Challenges Through Capacity Building”.
The event which started by 10.00am with Drilling that was handled by the Drilling Officer Abubakar from the Sector Command, Ojodu.
The First Lecture Paper with the title: The Vital Roles of Volunteerism in Special Marshals was handed by the Lagos State Secretary for Special Marshals, SM Olabisi O. Dennis.
The lecturer took the participants on the Concept of Volunteerism, Components of Volunteerism, Importance of volunteerism in special marshals, Characteristics of Effective Volunteers in Special Marshals, history and evolution of special marshals, overview of the special marshals’ programmes, challenges encountered by Special Marshals, Solutions to the Challenges and the Conclusion.
He was able to make them to see the reasons why it’s important for the participants to volunteer their times, resources, money, etc for a good course like Road Safety without any financial gain.
The second lecture paper was handled by the Unit Head of Operations in Ikotun Unit command, CRC Alalade. He took them on ” the place of Special Marshals in Operations and in the Para-Military Environment / Special Marshals as a Team Leader in Operations.
The second paper made the participants to have full knowledge of operations, all the dos and don’ts among other salient points they needed to know as Special Marshals.
All the participants were reawaken to their duties and responsibilities as special marshals after the two Lecturers delivered their papers.
Questions and Answers Session was handled by the former Unit Commander in Ikotun unit command, DCC Iwuoha Chinwendu and the Ikotun unit command Uthops, CRC Alalade.
Pastor Juwon Adekoya was available to rain down the blessings of God on all the Special Marshals and the participants.
Among the guests at the event was the State Treasurer, SM Emmanuel Olupitan who delivered the keynote address on behalf of the State Coordinator , SM Olusegun Akintan who was unavoidably absent. SM Alex Ndupu, the State Provost was available throughout the programme.
SM Stanley, the Chairman of all the Units Coordinators in Ikotun unit command and SM Obi from Ojodu were at the event with the Press to cover the programme.
The Units Coordinators from both the two Units, SM Taiwo Akindele and SM Taiwo Funmibi with the support of SM Seyi and all the Units Members performed excellently in order for the event to be a memorable one.
The training retreat ended with a new commitment from all the Special marshals at the event.
