“Strengthening Community Ties” – New Lagos State Police Commissioner Olohundare Moshood Jimoh Commits to Transformative Leadership

The Lagos State Police Command has welcomed its new Commissioner of Police, Olohundare Moshood Jimoh, who officially assumed his role today. At the formal handing over ceremony, Jimoh emphasized his commitment to improving the effectiveness of the police force. “My primary focus will be on fostering stronger community relations and ensuring that our officers are well-trained and equipped to handle the challenges of modern policing,” he stated.
Jimoh brings extensive experience from his previous roles, including his tenure as the Commissioner of Police for the Ports Authority, Eastern Ports. He has also served in key positions within the Nigeria Police Force, such as Force Public Relations Officer and Deputy Commissioner for General Investigation. His professional background is further enriched by specialized training in combat operations, maritime rescue, anti-hijacking techniques, and leadership.
During his speech, Jimoh highlighted the importance of transparency and accountability. “I am dedicated to maintaining law and order, fostering community trust, and enhancing the safety of our state through my wealth of experience,” he said. He assured the citizens that the police force would remain committed to upholding the highest standards of professionalism and integrity.
The Police Service Commission (PSC) approved Jimoh’s appointment, reflecting its commitment to strengthening leadership and ensuring effective policing in Lagos State. The confirmation process included a thorough screening before key officials, including the Commission’s Chairman, DIG Hashimu Argungu (rtd), Justice Adamu Paul Galmuje (rtd), and DIG Taiwo Lakanu (rtd).
Jimoh’s vision for the Lagos State Police Command includes several key initiatives:
