Tech Innovators Gear Up for Wema Bank’s Hackaholics 5.0 Grand Finale

Wema Bank is set to host the grand finale of its 5th Hackaholics competition, offering a platform for Nigeria’s youth and startups to showcase their tech innovations. This year’s event, themed “Meta Idea: Capitalizing Africa’s Growth Through Innovation,” will take place on November 27th, 2024.

 

The competition, which began in 2019, aims to foster creativity and entrepreneurship among Nigeria’s young tech innovators. Participants from universities and tech communities nationwide will pitch their solutions to real-world problems, aiming for a share of the ₦75 million prize pool.

 

Wema Bank’s MD/CEO, Moruf Oseni, emphasized the broader vision of Hackaholics as a movement to drive digital transformation in Africa. He highlighted the importance of thinking beyond the present and designing solutions that leverage Africa’s growth potential through innovation.

 

Prizes at the event include:

– ₦30,000,000 for the winning team

– ₦20,000,000 for the first runner-up

– ₦15,000,000 for the second runner-up

– ₦10,000,000 special grant for the best female-led team, promoting gender diversity in tech

 

Hackaholics has grown into one of Nigeria’s largest and most influential tech competitions, engaging over 10,000 aspiring innovators. The initiative not only offers substantial cash prizes and grants but also provides access to mentorship, industry networks, and resources to help participants scale their innovations globally.
