THE DADDICRACY OF DADDYISTIC DADDYISM; A DIDACTIC DICTUM – By Kunle Wizeman Ajayi
“Daddicracy,” that stinking practice of godifying mere mortals, has exposed the naked pouch of the Obi-dient movement led by Presidential Candidate Peter Obi again.
Inspite of the fact that Nigerians are probably the most religious people in the world, we remain one of the poorest countries in the world. Nigeria has one of the richest set of religious leaders, from Christians to Moslems, and traditionalists; but the vast of our land from Badagry to Potiskum is a whole lot of crime scene. Lagos, Nigeria’s most patronized city is the second deadliest city to reside in globally. So, what is it that is making our religious leaders to deserve this “Daddyism” that is making them to all feel like fathers when all they do is to latch on the mass poverty in the country and build memberships on mass illusions.
During the COVID-19 pandemic period, Pastors like Apostle Suleiman was busy polluting the airwaves with sermons of how it is the devil that is causing the lockdown, and that COVID-19 was not true. Pastors even preached again 5G technology.
You also need to listen to many of the sermons of Imams and other Islamic clerics. Aside Sheikh Gumi and the MURIC enfant terrible; sermons like those of Isa Pantami are samples of how petty, delusional and dangerous Nigerian religious leaders have been in the fanning of the embers of divisive and illusory ideas.
To build a new society, we must really decide on which ideas are needed to truly liberate society. And why was it that an all-encompassing idea like the EndSARS against police brutality was a great sell amongst most Nigerians. Religion and ethnicity are illusions to divide the oppressed people. Tinubu, Atiku, Obi, and Kwankwanso all promised to remove fuel subsidies. In fact, Tinubu swore to yank off the oil subsidies even if we protest endlessly. Obi said he would remove the subsidies from day one. Atiku, that one na to even sell all the NNPC, NLNG etc.
Obi said “Yes Daddy” in several hypocritical tones, and Bishop Oyedepo was d’accord all through. This is how sad and bad people are using the pulpit to amplify personal ambitions, the why Obi restated his promises that “you people will not regret this support.” At no time has the Churches and Mosques actually querying the past and present of these candidates according to the holy scriptures. If they do, how could any priest in good conscience support Tinubu who engineered the Lekkimassacre and has turned Lagos into a private estate while spending trillions to steal and rig the presidential elections? How could any priest support Atiku who has his filthy hands in almost every big scandal in the country from Halliburton to Mallabu? How about how Atiku and Obasanjo sold most of the government companies and industries to their cronies cheaply through the Bureau of Public Enterprises (BPE) led by Nasir El-Rufai? Under Obasanjo and Atiku, whole ships and aeroplanes went missing!
And Obi, who became a public bride to Pastors was telling one open lie to the other every moment of the campaign. The pastors were never ashamed of openly supporting a liar! Till date, Obi made sure no report came into the open over the Ezu Rivers massacre allegedly done by Akwuzu SARS which Obi notoriously used as governor of Anambra. None of the priests said pim about it!
This piece believes these are lesson times for all Nigerians who seek change. How long shall we be supporting one wing of the oppressors over another? How long shall we continue to allow them to keep using ethnicity and religion which have been the major causes of our national challenges from independence, and big tools in the hands of the oppressors, to control of ideologies. Let’s face the economy and fight against the wicked and ruinous capitalist system that continues to keep Nigeria in blood and mud while a few immoral elements swim in greed and powers. Let’s demand for a new Nigeria where the resources of Nigeria will be collectively and conscientiously used for the better lives of all Nigerians!
