The Nigerian Heart Foundation (NHF), will be coming to town this Thursday morning as part of the ongoing Wasimi Summer Soccer Championship 2025.
For the second time in the history of the championship (the first time was in 2023) the Nigerian Heart Foundation’s campaign, ahead of this year’s 25th anniversary of the World Heart Day in September, will be promoting the prevention and treatment of heart-related diseases for the over 1000 grassroots footballers that will still be left as the championship gets to its final stages.
The NHF program will include a public lecture, demonstration and training of some personnel in the application of CPR ( Cardio- Pulmonary Resuscitation) and AED (Automated Electrical Defibrillator – an Electrical Equipment for rescuing people with sudden cardiac arrest) in case of emergencies, free medical screening for teams officials and members of the Wasimi community, and distribution of campaign materials for the World Heart Day campaign: – ‘Don’t miss a beat’ – when the world would come together in a physical movement of the body for 25 minutes daily for 25 days, in demonstration of a critical but simple countermeasures for promotion of Cardiovascular Health.
Some NHF Ambassadors, including film actor, Kepi Ekpeyong (Nollywood Ambassador) and reknown International sports veteran, Segun Odegbami, will be on ground to play their part as ‘towncriers’ for the campaign.
In the late evening of the same day, there shall be a lighting display. Two drones, with the combined energy of 1 million lumens of Electricity, shall be flown overhead Wasimi to provide flood-lighting for social activities including a demonstration football match.
Thursday promises to be a memorable day in the lives of the participants and citizens of Wasimi in Ogun State when the NHF comes visiting in the spirit of ‘ Don’t miss a beat’
