The Triumph of Nigeria Immigration Service: Supporting Woman In Word and In Deed; Acting CG Isah Ideis Jere Strikes ‘Break the Bias’ Pose
Acting Comptroller General, Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Isah Jere Idris (m) with some senior female officers of the service striking the official #BreakTheBias pose to celebrate the International Women’s Day 2022.
‘Women can do as well as men’ is a fact that’s been mouthed by many Nigerians – individuals and agencies alike. But how many fulfill the book, as late Bob Marley sang in his hit track ‘Redemption Song’, by supporting their words with action. How many allow women to thrive and shine in leadership? How many support affirmative action?
Slowly but surely, however, the Nigeria Immigration Service is making things happen. Of all security agencies in Nigeria, they are possibly the only one that has gotten a woman to sit on the coveted no. 1 position in their agency. Infact, the agency prides itself has ‘about the most gender sensitive agency of government in Nigeria’ as revealed by a tweet through the organization’s verified Twitter handle today.
Not once but twice the NIS has attained the great feat of getting a woman into the top job. Late CGI Uzoamaka Nwizu (of blessed memory) and CGI Rosemary Chinyere Uzoma, mni (rtd) are the past two Comptrollers General of the Service who are women. It is interesting to note that when you can accomplish something for the first time, it becomes easier down the road. The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) can boast of many women who are standing in high-ranking positions in the agency. Nigeria may see another woman Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Immigration Service in the nearest future, National Association of Online Security News Publishers, NAOSNP can envisage.
As a show of his comradeship for the women officers of the Service, the Acting Comptroller-General of Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Isah Jere Idris joined top women functionaries of the Service to strike the official #BreakTheBias pose celebrating the International Women’s Day 2022. This, he affirmed, is to celebrate ‘our beautiful amazons, our great women and wonderful mothers in NIS to celebrate this year’s International Women’s Day, 8th March 2022’ as tweeted by the organization’s verified Twitter handle. This is a great plus for Acting Comptroller General, Isah Jere Idris.
NAOSNP can report that the agency has made tremendous progress in the administration and performance of the Service since he assumed the acting position late 2021.
Nigeria Immigration Service, in deed not only in words, celebrate her women today, 8th March being International Women’s Day, and always.
