In a historic visit to Anambra State, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu commended Governor Charles Soludo for his transformative leadership and infrastructural strides. On Thursday, the president inaugurated several major projects in the state, including the newly constructed Government House and Governor’s Lodge, developments hailed as a mini-city within a city.

Also commissioned were the Emeka Anyaoku Institute for International Studies and Diplomacy at Nnamdi Azikiwe University, the 8-Lane Emeka Anyaoku Boulevard, and the Solution Fun City, an ambitious leisure and entertainment hub equipped with a water park, amusement facilities, and a country club.

In a show of support for Governor Soludo’s vision of turning Anambra into the “African Dubai-Taiwan-Silicon Valley,” Tinubu applauded his efforts while reaffirming federal commitment to addressing key infrastructural challenges. He acknowledged Anambra’s exclusion from the national rail network and pledged corrective steps to integrate the state into the national gas infrastructure system.

Recognizing Anambra’s longstanding battle with gully erosion, Tinubu described the state as “the gully erosion capital of the world,” promising renewed efforts to tackle ecological degradation in the Southeast region. He further underscored the importance of collaboration between Awka and Abuja in solving critical issues, including road infrastructure and the revitalization of the Onitsha River Port.

Expressing admiration for Soludo’s systematic economic reforms, the governor praised the president’s approach to tackling Nigeria’s economic challenges, stating that despite the hurdles, “important building blocks are already falling into place.”

The event also featured the unveiling of monuments honoring five Anambra-born national heroes, reflecting the state’s rich history and commitment to recognizing trailblazers.

In response to the chieftaincy title of “Dike si-mba Anambra” conferred on him by traditional rulers, Tinubu expressed his deep appreciation, calling the occasion “historic” and one he would “treasure for the rest of his life.”

The high-profile ceremony drew key dignitaries, including National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu; Governors Hope Uzodimma (Imo), Dapo Abiodun (Ogun), Peter Mbah (Enugu), and Alex Otti (Abia). Other notable attendees included Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt Hon. Benjamin Okezie Kalu, and the Minister of Works, Dave Umahi.
